Poinciana
Rehabilitation Centre

Poinciana Rehabilitation Centre (PRC), located in East End, Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands is a tertiary care, residential mental health facility under the Ministry of Health, Enviroment and Sustainability. It was established for residents in the Cayman Islands that have serious and persistent mental illness to be cared for holistically in a safe and secure environment reflecting a therapeutic approach to care. The services form a part of the continuum of mental health care in the Cayman Islands. The main goals are to provide rehabilitation services and to reintegrate residents back to their communities.

Clinical Interventions

Clinical Interventions

Initial and ongoing psychiatric assessment, monitoring and care. This includes reviews from our on-site psychiatrist, medical practitioners, dietician and the provision of 24-hour specialised psychiatric nursing care.

Psychological Interventions

Psychological Interventions

Psychotherapeutic assessments and interventions, provided by clinical and counselling psychologists, will be in the form of individual, family and group therapies.

Rehabilitation Services

Rehabilitation Services

Will mainly involve recreational and occupational therapy services and vocational training. These are aimed at improving the resident’s emotional wellbeing and equipping residents with skills that can make them employable.

Social Interventions

Social Interventions

Providing social support to aid residents’ reintegration with their families and communities. Services will include the implementation of support groups and day programmes for internal residents and external clients. Services will be provided by licensed social workers who will work with the individual residents, families and communities.

Mental Health Promotion, Public Awareness & Education

Promoting mental health awareness in the community and reducing stigma and discrimination, and improving the residents’ compliance to the care process.
